Negotiation Skills

Aim

This course is offered for people wishing to learn about alternative methods of conflict intervention, and in particular how to negotiate. This course will outline how to plan for and enter an effective face-to-face negotiation, and to ensure that the proposed outcome is beneficial for all parties.

Recognise different approaches to conflict

Understand the 7 elements of Principled Negotiation

Recognise BATNA (Best Alternatives to a Negotiated Agreement)

Examine how to deal with difficult behaviour

Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for community workers, individuals with HR responsibilities, teachers, social workers, development workers, union workers, supervisors and those who interface with the public.

Duration

The accredited course Principled Negotiation Skills is offered by Mediation Northern Ireland in association with the Workers Education Association over 3 days.

To receive OCN accreditation at Level Two, participants will engage in skills practice and complete a learning portfolio. Mediation Northern Ireland can also provide Negotiation Skills as a non-accredited course of between 7 to 12 hours learning.
