Policy, Planning and Development to support Reconciliation
This course takes place over 10 hours of training contact time – customarily delivered as four 2½-hour sessions. In addition, participants will also explore and reflect on the topic independently; engage with colleagues regarding internal policies; and research local issues relating to reconciliation amounting in total to 20 hours of learning.
The content covered will give participants an opportunity to explore how their own actions connect with local issues of reconciliation. ‘Policy, Planning and Development which supports Reconciliation’ (level 2) is suitable for participants who have some responsibility for addressing reconciliation issues personally or on behalf of an organisation.
Topics covered will include:
- Personal awareness
- Policy – internal and external influences
- Strategic Planning models
- Practical Development
These topics will be covered using a mixture of practical exercises, group discussion, input from trainers and personal reflection. Participants will also be required to work independently on the subject between sessions using discussion with other people and observation of relevant media reports. Where appropriate, participants will be given an opportunity to write a strategic plan in support of reconciliation as an additional session once they have completed their training course.
